brindle 0.5.2

Released

Scoped checks by default, checked PRs, and a quieter desktop app

  • Scoped checks are on by default. An unset scoped_checks now means infer.
    • On a worker branch, a pytest check runs only the tests its Python changes reach. It is skipped when nothing Python or pytest-config changed.
    • Files pytest can't be affected by (.tsx, .md, .yml, …) no longer force the full suite.
    • Changes to conftest, pyproject, the lock file, or Python the code map can't place still run in full. Session branches always run everything.
    • Set "scoped_checks": "off" to opt out.
  • Full checks before a session PR. Before brindle pr (or the session's PR) pushes, every configured check runs in full on the session HEAD; a check that already passed for this exact tree counts.
    • It refuses with the failing check's name and output, and refuses a checkout with uncommitted tracked changes.
    • It pushes the verified commit, so a commit landing mid-check can't be published unchecked.
  • Config from the right branch. The committed .brindle/config.json (checks, setup, copy, teardown) is read from the worker's base (the session branch) for a worker, and from its own branch for a session. It used to be read from whatever branch the main checkout had checked out. config.local.json and the user config are unchanged.
  • Codex approval prompts reach you again. The desktop app's bundled engine had a CI-path shebang, so Codex's permission hook failed and prompts landed in workers' terminals. Entry scripts are now relocatable.
  • Per-user settings and session names. Settings are per user first, saved to ~/.brindle/config.json, with project overrides marked. Sessions can be named at start and renamed later.

Desktop app 0.2.5

  • A quieter look. Each screen has one main action in the site's green mono style (Allow, Update brindle, Continue); every other button is neutral.
  • Fewer boxes. Sections are separated by dividers and whitespace instead of outlined cards, green is kept for status, and a selection is shown as a background. The terminal cursor is a soft grey instead of green.
  • The Crisp theme, matching the website.
  • New Session has a searchable project picker. The Agents tab opens immediately and loads details afterwards.
  • Terminal: paste works reliably and links are clickable.
  • Settings: friendlier provider sign-in (status pills, Install vs Sign in, Copy sign-in link, Try again). The daemon status moved to Settings › Engine & health, with a banner only when the daemon is disconnected.

No config changes needed.
